The A.F.E.T. (Association Francophone d’Etudes Taïwanaises 法語台灣研究學會) is an association which is intended for French-speaking scholars in social sciences, both experts and trainees, who are focused on Taiwan.

Since 1999, the University of London’s Centre of Taiwan Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) is a driving force in Taiwan studies. Their activities are focused on teaching, publishing and organising academic events.

The European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan (ERCCT) is financed by the University of Tübingen (Germany) and the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation (Taiwan). Its primary purpose is to promote research in social sciences, specifically in the field of political science, law, economics and Cross-Strait relations.

A public research institution, the CEFC is under the joint supervision of the French Foreign and European Affairs Ministry (MAEE) and the CNRS. The Taipei office’s mission is to study political, economic, social and cultural changes in Taiwan.

Since its creation in 1965, the Academia Sinica’s Institute of Ethnology has pursued the following major research themes: the cultural history of the Chinese people, the cultural practices and social structures of indigenous and Han peoples in Taiwan, as well as Chinese communities throughout South-East Asia.

The Institute of Sociology was founded in 1928. Over the course of its existence, it has strived to accumulate and expand sociological knowledge, by studying the organizing principles, operational processes and historical change of society. It emphasizes both Taiwan Studies and the study of neighboring societies and Chinese societies at large.

Les Carnets du Centre Chine covers the scientific life of the research team by presenting the research and scientific activities of each member of the Centre for Studies on Modern and Contemporary China.

The purpose of Lettres de Taiwan is to make accessible Taiwanese works translated into French, as well as French books dealing with the subject of Taiwan, of all genres. This website also seeks to present important Taiwanese authors and the work of the translators and editors that make this Taiwanese literature available to the French-speaking public.
